Building Regional Resilience
January 8–9, 2026 | Regional Partnership Sessions
Earlier this month, our team joined partners from across our region for two interconnected sessions that advanced both capacity building and collaborative resilience planning under the California Regional Forest & Fire Capacity (RFFC) Program — a statewide initiative designed to support regional leadership in forest health, wildfire preparedness, and community resilience.
On January 8, we participated in the "Going Beyond Land Acknowledgement" workshop with Redbud Resource Group, deepening our collective understanding of how to build respectful, meaningful, and action-oriented relationships with Native American Tribal partners. By moving beyond traditional acknowledgements to focus on practical partnership strategies and reciprocal engagement, this training strengthened our capacity to work collaboratively with Tribal governments and organizations.
On January 9, we joined the Inner Coast Collaborative Regional Forest & Fire Capacity Meeting with regional partners from Colusa, Napa, Solano, Yolo, and Sonoma Counties. Together we explored shared priorities for forest health and fire resilience across our region.
The day concluded with a field visit to the CLERC and USFS North Shore Restoration Project, spanning High Valley and Long Valley Ridge Roads and in the Mendocino National Forest in Lake County, showcasing years of restoration progress in areas impacted by the 2018 Mendocino Complex Fire. This hands-on look at long-term recovery efforts underscored both the challenges and promise of collaborative post-fire restoration.
These back-to-back days reminded us that effective forest and fire resilience work combines cultural competency, strong partnerships, and landscape-level planning to support healthier forests and communities across our region.
